Rutherford & Meyer

Kiwi crafted from New Zealand, Rutherford & Meyer’s portfolio of cheese board staples includes wafers, crackers, fruit spreads, honeys, and hummus. In 2017, Strong Studio was referred by the New Zealand government to refresh and elevate the brand’s packaging in order to help attract international sales.

Brand Awakening

Strong Studio began by channeling Rutherford & Meyer’s charcuterie wishes and camembert dreams into a comprehensive brand toolkit.

Strong Studio hand-picked the typefaces, curated emotive and lively photo selections, created custom icons and patterns, and drafted the brand’s language and tone.

Build Your Bite

Strong Studio designed a website that felt fresh and innovative, while also playing up Rutherford & Meyer’s New Zealand roots.

The homepage’s interactive animation pairs Rutherford & Meyer products with one another to build the perfect bite. The campaign creative was later applied to postcards and trade show collateral.

The Perfect Pairing

Rutherford & Meyer’s signature gourmet wafers needed a packaging design as distinctive as its flavor.

Strong Studio curated complementary pairings for each wafer and color-coded the packaging with patterns inspired by the wafers’ intricate texture.

Hearty Complements

Rutherford & Meyer’s new product – grain crackers – needed to look and feel distinguished from their lighter, thinner wafers.

The bold, colorful illustrations of grains created by Strong Studio envelope the box with an all-natural yet striking pattern.

Beyond the Cheese Board

Over in the snack aisle are Rutherford & Meyer’s flavorful rice crackers and savory hummus dips. For these everyday product lines, Strong Studio employed approachable handwritten typography, as well as bright and vibrant colors.

Strong Studio also developed creative for their spent grain crackers, made in partnership with their New Zealand neighbor, Panhead Brewery.
