AR Magic
Taking Matthew’s Packaging Design class at Pratt Institute was a driving factor behind my love of multidimensional design, and Strong Studio. I could never have dreamed though that one year later I would be applying those skills to unicorn illustrations, raining sprinkles, and learning an augmented reality program to create an Instagram Filter.
As the resident social media guru (code for youngest designer), I was given the nod to tackle this assignment. Thanks to Spark AR, Strong Studio was able to make the launch of Bantam’s Magic Unicorn Pancakes a unique and interactive experience.
AUGMENTED DESIGN
Strong Studio worked closely with the Bantam marketing team to create a custom Instagram filter using Spark AR for their new product launch of Magic Unicorn Pancakes. Through sketching, production, and collaboration, the Magic Unicorn filter is abundant in rainbow colors, moving confetti, facial lighting, and a Unicorn face that attaches to its 1-2 users.

SAY YES AND FIGURE IT OUT LATER
Bantam Bagels wanted to use augmented reality to promote their new pancakes, and trusted Strong Studio to master this new software before the launch deadline. As Nick and Elyse say and live by, “Say “YES” and make it happen.”
From file set-up to technical limitations to Instagram standards, we learned a multitude of new techniques that allowed us to achieve dynamic layers, moving backgrounds, and tracked facial recognition for multiple users.
STICKING WITH THE BRAND
Strong Studio suggested a Bantam Bagels Giphy Channel as a fun way to drive awareness and engagement to a larger audience and ensure that the product launch hit all points of user contact on Instagram. These stickers coincided with the Magic Unicorn Filter, which created multiple areas of social media content that can be used on more platforms than just Instagram. We created gif stickers of their packaging and custom illustrations that can also be found on the Mural at the Bantam Bagels Store!
